Lesson Overview: Compromissos e Rotina Diária (Appointments and Daily Routine)
Objective
This lesson aims to help learners speak in Portuguese about appointments and daily plans. You'll learn common phrases used in everyday conversations, such as “I’m busy today,” “I’m free tomorrow,” or “Let’s meet at a café.”
Conversation Scenario
The characters are João and Ana. João invites Ana to go to a café. However, Ana is busy today, so instead, they agree to meet tomorrow.
This kind of exchange is very common when making plans with friends or colleagues.
Key Phrases
Você está livre...?
“Are you free...?” – Often used when asking about someone's availability.
Tenho uma reunião de trabalho.
“I have a work meeting.” – A useful phrase to express a schedule or obligation.
Que tal a gente se encontrar...?
“How about we meet...?” – A phrase for making suggestions.
Colocar o papo em dia
“To catch up / talk after a while” – Used when reconnecting with someone.
